YeeHaw!

haha yep it's been a while!

My buddy Dave Kozlowski asked me to come out to Chad Eubank's ranch and do some photography of real cowboys (and a cowgirl) hard at work. It's harder than you think! It's a cross between a traffic cop and MMA cage fighting.

1st One has to coax very large, unhappy cows into a pen. Chad using brain not brawn, simply lured the beasts toward him by beating on an empty food bag! Like the pied piper the lumbering cows followed him in a fairly organized line right into the pen.

2nd One must then direct them like a traffic cop to the branding chute. Imagine this, you're in a long metal hallway, where at the end of this hallway the walls collapse in on you and your head is trapped in a vise. Someone tasers you in the butt and you race forward toward what looks like an exit. Once you run into the chute, one of the cowboys has to time it just right to trap your head with the swing doors, squeezing your guts in the V trap. Next, side bars are selectively kicked out of the way so that the electric brander can do its work. With a nice hiss of the burn and some smoke gets you a great looking K2 on your butt! Except in the case in which Dave gave it a go....kkkkkk222222 for one poor cow!

3rd Involves the MMA cage fighting. In another corral are the "little" cows. Calves they call them... Little baby calves, are not little. Nor are they weak, slow, lethargic or stupid. Infact they are fast, strong, nimble and will kick you square in the nuts if you come near them! Dave was given a chance to wrangle one...I'm really glad I have semi-formal medical training from the military. I was getting ready to use his camera strap as a tourniquet in case he had a head wound. hahaha.... Of course it was my turn, and I chase this mean little sucker down grabbing it by the tail. He bucked and just lightly got me in the left thigh with a Muay Thai kick. Nice shot! My martial arts back ground taught me how to soften my bones and move them out of the way incase of such an attack. I finally pin this beast into the wall, and he rears up and is now standing straight up. I thought I was fighting Rampage Jackson, had it bit my ear I would have changed that to Mike Tyson. I cross face the 6ft tall, 200lb calf and mashed him(she?) against the cage..I mean pen. It sticks its tongue out at me, I'm sure a bovine version of flipping me the bird... Kim's dad Tommy, grabs a syringe and squirts some sort of vaccine in the calf's neck. I was laughing inside my head thinking it resembled performance enhancing drugs illegal in cage fighting!

Here's some pics of the festivties. MUCH thanks to Chad and Kim Eubank for letting K-Dawg and I come out and be cowboys for a day. It's WAY tougher than what one sees on TV!

E-Models

Finally...a month after no blogging! Shame on me!
Crazy work schedule has knocked down my ability to do stuff. Hope it ends soon! I want my life back!

Anyways, I heard Sheena Lee needed some shots for her group of models and I gladly oblige. They are nice group of girls and we had a great time shooting. The location was the Mansion Club in north west Dallas. Nice place, awesome interior for shooting.

Anywasy onto the shots! To see more, check out my flickr set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ridgebackzulu/sets/72157608608038759/

Enjoy!!

Misanthrope

Last night you saw Misanthrope aka Meghan aka Misa aka super model caught all on fire in my flight suit. Cool stuff. Today are some pics with less fire, and more of my dog Zulu :)

Enough babbling. Here's the shots!

Don't Play With Fire Kids!

Yeah leave fires to grown ups. Not that I'm grown up. I'm as silly as any third grader. I just have the ability to either a) talk my way out of getting arrested for illegal fires or b) able to pay my own bail or c) run faster than a cop... Anyways I had my first photo shoot party over here at the House of Mark. Was super fun! Megan, Satat, Nish, Chase, Troy and my idiot dog were here. After some green screen shots, we went outside and set stuff on fire! Namely an old towel, a bed sheet and two tiki torches! Fire is fun :)

Here's a quick preview. I'll edit some more stuff in the later week.

p.s. no models were harmed(much) during the burning process ;)

More Eyes

Today Amanda and I went on a quick jaunt down to the harbor for some natural light. Being Texas, it was just past boiling at 4pm. The sun at a 45 degree angle toasted us nicely... We started off walking around the shady side of the harbor to keep us from getting fried. After a couple hours, one wardrobe change, dinner and some competitive glares from the other women nearby; we left with nearly 300 shots. Lots of keepers! Normally one gets 1 or 2 percent. I think we got nearly 40%!

Anyways...enough of my babbling and statistics, on with the pics!

The Eye's Have It

Some people say the eyes are the gateway to the soul. In some cultures, the eyes are a delicacy... especially stuffed with coleslaw or cream cheese! No kidding, check out Wikipedia if you don't believe me!

This is my friend Amanda. She's gonna be super famous one day. I'm certain she can play anything from an axe murderer to a mental health counselor at an insane asylum.

Anyways she needed some head shots. Isn't she adorable?? hahaha those are her words not mine :) No really, she's awesome, here's a few shots!

There she is all serious and stuff.

Serious, yet...umm vixeny...is vixeny a word? Sounds like a cross between Viking and Vicodine. Hmmm ancient warriors and kickbutt painkillers sounds like a good party!

House of Satat

Another great night at The House of Satat!

My friend Satat and her husband Nish were kind enough to (once again) invite me to a photographic event of epic proportions. The cast and crew were small, yet the output was great! One never knows what will happen at The House of Satat. It's all unplanned, unscripted and unrehearsed..just the way I like it :)

It's amazing what can happen in a little room, couple of scruffy strobes, and a white sheet of paper taped to the wall!

Next get together will be at the House of Mark :)

Now onto the results!
(click for much better versions!)
